The course has been designed to train students to take care of patients with cardiopulmonary diseases with the help of treatment and pre/post- surgery care. These technicians assist the physicians in the diagnosis and the treatment of cardiac (heart) and peripheral vascular conditions (blood vessels). The Cardiac Care Technicians are also responsible for preparing the patients for open-heart surgeries and pacemaker implantation surgeries. These Allied and Healthcare Professionals includes individuals with qualification and competence in therapeutic, diagnostic, curative, preventive and rehabilitative interventions.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Assist cardiologists in all invasive and non-invasive procedures (angiogram, angioplasty, electrophysiology studies, pacemaker implant, stress echo, tilt table test, Holter monitoring).
  • Perform all cardiac ultrasound procedures (2D Echo, Colour flow, Doppler, TEE), ECG and treadmill stress (TMT) under the supervision of a Cardiologist.
  • Develop critical thinking by integrating knowledge of cardiac anatomy, pharmacology and various pathophysiology to provide accurate diagnostic information to members of the health care team

Holistic teaching method (blended learning) characterized by its focus approach, stressing the importance of scenario based practice with the help of latest tools and techniques. There will be comprehensive lab work requiring demonstrated competency to receive a satisfactory grade.

  • Common heart diseases
  • Components, function, and proper use of the EKG/ECG machine
  • Echocardiography, Stress Testing, Holter Monitoring and Tilt Table Test
  • Introduction to cardiac related equipment, pacemaker, etc
  • To develop an understanding regarding pericardiocentesis and its type

  • Internship-1200 Hours
  • Eligibility-10+2 Science or ECG tech with 1-2 years of experience
