A Vision Assistant, also known as an Ophthalmic Assistant, is a permanent main eye care provider for a rural community of 50,000 to 70,000 people. An allied healthcare professional with extensive knowledge and expertise in vision management who assists ophthalmologists and optometrists in the prevention of blindness is known as a Vision Assistant. They assist persons with refractive problems in understanding and managing their condition.
