The course offers practical and theoretical knowledge about how to assist specialized doctors like surgeons, anaesthesiologists, and several other doctors who operate in an operation theatre. Operation theatre technicians are always in high demand as they are required in every hospital which has an operation theatre. Role of theatre assistant in operating room is to prepare and maintain operating theatres and equipment, assist surgical and anaesthetic teams during operations, and provide support to patients in recovery.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate conceptual knowledge about Ensuring working of OT equipment like anaesthesia machine, Heart-lung machine and ventilator equipment.
  • Function efficiently, confidently and safely in proper oxygen supply to OT, maintaining sterile environment with proper light, humidity and temperature as per protocol.
  • Understand Importance of Fumigation its documentation and other OT related documentations.

Holistic teaching method (blended learning) characterized by its focus approach, stressing the importance of scenario based practice with the help of latest tools and techniques. There will be comprehensive lab work requiring demonstrated competency to receive a satisfactory grade.
