The Blood Bank Technician will assist with all aspects of blood bank operations, including patient and donor registration and screening, phlebotomy procedures, and processing of blood products.

Despite the fact that medical technologists and medical laboratory technicians also carry out a variety of blood tests, the training of a blood bank technology specialist enables them to carry out more specialized tests, like those involving the investigation of blood and its immunity (immunohematology)

After completing this course, participants will be able to :

  • Blood collection and processing, including molecular testing, blood type identification, and donor selection
  • Probe at anomalies such haemolytic anaemias, infantile diseases, and poor transfusion outcomes.
  • Support medical professionals in providing transfusion therapy for individuals with coagulopathies (blood clotting abnormalities) or who are potential recipients of organ and cellular transplants or therapies.

 

Holistic teaching method (blended learning] characterized by its focus approach, stressing the importance of scenario based practice with the help of latest tools and techniques. There will be comprehensive lab work requiring demonstrated competency to receive a satisfactory grade.
